Thanks for explaining, I admit I did not read the book, I am only talking about the Disney animated movie, my memory of which is poor because it was not one of my most favorites, partially because of the shadow scene.

It has been a long time since I have either seen the Disney adaptation or read the book, so it isn't particularly fresh in my memory either. The shadow may have been more depraved than I remember. :D

Lucky Luke (there's a movie, but idk if the shadow theme made it - never watched it )

Ha! Speaking of things I haven't seen nor read in a long time, I forgot that Lucky Luke was known for drawing his gun faster than his own shadow.

When I was in elementary school I wasted many hours (ostensibly learning French) reading Lucky Luke, Astérix and Les Aventures de Tintin.

I recall how the documentary The Anatomy of Hate uses illustrations of shadows to convey Jungian concepts of the shadow.

Whenever I think of shadows in movies, I think of film noir, but I most especially think of The Third Man.

From the entrance of Orson Wells, to the bombed out ruins at night, the movie constantly uses shadows.
