Simple enough, right? What are your Top 10 Greatest Films ever? Or (and this is a clear difference) what are your Top 10 Favorite Films ever? I could do both, but I will attempt an "objective" Top 10 Greatest. It's obviously fairly subjective, but I am shooting for a canon, not a love list. Ranked or unranked is fine; mine is simply alphabetical.

8 1/2
Chinatown
Citizen Kane
City Lights
The Godfather Pts. 1 and 2 (can't really separate them)
Grand Illusion
The Searchers
Seven Samurai
Ugetsu
Wild Strawberries

I can't quantify what the greatest films are, so I'm taking the favourite option. The following are films that I have trouble not watching over and over again. I have to watch these movies at least once a year, so it pretty much is a love list.

12 Angry Men
Fargo
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Boondock Saints
Clerks
Forrest Gump
The Shawshank Redemption
Back to the Future trilogy
The Castle

and..........

Freddy Got Fingered

That's right, look down on me.

I will choose the favorites option, because I have difficulty with reasoning that a film is great if I don't like it. I'm sure that has a lot to do with sitting in film classes watching "classics" that suck.

No particular order except for #1.

#1 Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Almost Famous
Raising Arizona
Vertigo
2001: A Space Odyssey
JFK
The Blues Brothers
Straw Dogs
Jaws
Sixteen Candles

This is way too hard. There's no real difference between these movies and my next ten favorite. Top 20 is a much more natural cutoff point for me.

Hmmm k.

#1 Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade - Sean Connery/Harrison Ford , how can you go wrong?

#2 The Living Daylights - Timothy Dalton as the elusive James Bond :) (1987)

#3 Twister - Bill Paxton/Helen Hunt - Funny :p

#4 The Castle - Michael Caton - Hilarious!

#5 All The Crocodile Dundee Films - Paul Hogan (Hoag's For The WIN!)

#6 The Blues Brothers (1980 - John Belushi/Dan Ackroyd) Good Film :)

#7 The Shawshank Redemption - Andy...cant remember his last name/Morgan Freeman, absolutely brilliant.

#8 Kelly's Heroes - Clint Eastwood/Telly Savalas - Good old war film

#9 V For Vendetta - Hugo Weaving as the brilliant comic book hero.

#10 Hmmm, this is a hard one, but I think i'll say: Takedown - Skeet Ulrich, about the infamous kevin mitnick(Computer Hacker)

Oh wow, that's so difficult, because I have such a broad film taste and have absolutely loved so many movies. But I'll give it a shot, and I won't even try to assign a priority to them.

- Star Wars (The Empire Strikes Back)
- Amadeus
- The Godfather (two first films)
- Requiem for a Dream
- American Beauty
- Kill Bill (both films)
- Amélie
- Before Sunrise/Sunset
- Good Will Hunting
- Oldboy

Looking at the lists of people I can't help but think "oh, I loved that movie!" and so on ...

This is hard because I have about 30 favorite films. Without giving it a lot of though these 10 come to mind - in no particular order:
The Shining
Forrest Gump
Goodfellas
The Usual Suspects
LA Confidential
The Graduate
Rosemary’s Baby
Splendor in the Grass
Stand By Me
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

All great films so far. Well, Freddy Got Fingered wasn't what I'd call "great," but I am a firm believe that comedies should be funny, first and foremost (some people in Hollywood have forgotten that, it would seem). And I am not a Boondock Saints guy, sorry. I am pleased to see the profusion of Hollywood films on these lists, though. My "Greatest" list is definatly international, but it chagrins me when "Hollywood" is dismissed as completely crass and lowbrow. If you look at the majority of people's favorite films, they tend to be medium-to-high budget Hollywood pictures with a particularly smart script and good casting. Usually, they involve a refreshing take on a well-worn plot. There is nothing wrong with that.

Oh, and I've have to add Psycho, Vertigo, L'Avventura, and Jules and Jim if were allowed to. :) And Bridge on the River Kwai.

Tallulah, you like Morticia Adams! Me too. Her role as Mrs. Adams personifies my alter ego. I once dressed as her in character for Halloween before the series came out. Thank Mr. Gorey for that.

These are films I can watch more than once, twice. Well, lots.

Blade Runner
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Raising Arizona
Out of Africa
Near Dark
Lost Boys
Reservoir Dogs
The Wicker Man, original version
Casablanca
National Lampoon's Family Vacation

I usually watch films for entertainment and like ones that are eye candy.

Cheating -

Deer Hunter
Apocalypse Now
Jacob's Ladder
Interview With a Vampire

I'm so pleased to see the love from multiple people for "Raising Arizona". Whenever I mention it I get blank looks. It's the funniest movie ever made, to my sensibility.

The Princess Bride
Men in Black
Men in Black II
The Matrix
10 Things I hate About You
Nikita (the 1990 French version)

It was actually a struggle to think of 10 movies that I like - I'm not really that into movies.

The way I pick my favorite movies is by considering if they would drive me crazy if I were trapped in a room with them and had to watch them over and over. Otherwise, my list would be a mile long. :D

Now Voyager
Support Your Local Sheriff
Modern Times
A Patch of Blue
Blade Runner
Mad Max
The Adventures of Robin Hood ( Errol Flynn )
Charade
Gone With the Wind
It Happened One Night
