Why Does The Death Star Need A Trash Compactor?

Any way out is a way in. Trash dumps would be a great way to get in, or out, which is not something you want to have on a thing so valuable. Just look at what the Millennium Falcon did to a relatively smaller star destroyer - hid on the back of it and waited until a trash dump, then floated away like a ninja.

The design of the compactor is entirely retarded, though.
