I count beats, it's my occupation. If i could find employment at it i would accept very rapidly. I don't really know anything about life or emotion, I just count beats. Count beats, count words, count notes, count time.

You can learn everything about pop music by counting the beats, counting how the melodies overlay the rhythm.
Can you analyze what I posted? Those examples? I don't count anything. I just like some things and not others. There are patterns to it but I don't have a clear understanding of what those patterns are.

I like Katy Perry. She's fun and has a good voice. Her music is not terribly complex or nuanced however.

What do you think of this?

This is something that you should listen, if you already havent, and do it with some proper headphones or speakers.

Pretty neat at 2:30, it goes into 13/8 meter. Then back to 3/8. All the stuff before 2:30 is 3/8.

I wish more songs would be played with two sets of drums and outside of the standard 4/4

Also, @INTP, if you're into next-levels-of-insanity rhythmic stuff, listen to the band Upsilon Acrux. They blow the rhythmic mind like so many completely free rhythmic-mind hookers.

Actually, the band Yowie is even better.

Hands down the most impossible music I've ever heard. Technically ridiculous

Well, in the Great Gig in the Sky, those piano chords are all jazz chords. I hear a lot of 7 chords & 9 chords, but aside from that i think it's a pretty regular tune. Aside from the bluesy wailing from that kickin black lady they paid 4 dollars for an hour of work on the biggest band in the English empire.

Yes, the band yes, their music tends to have always usually made me think, eh, overblown ridiculousness. The man's voice. The man's fucking voice, the guitar. It's overblown imo. Taht means in my opinion fyi. That means for your information.

next up uhh, didn't really hear anything interesting in the Tori Amos song. Actlly, that song was a little annoying to hear, i'm a little annoyed at your for posting it kidding. all posts welcome in the FunnyDige hemisphere

Of course not terribly, why would you want it to be terrible? You want it gentle like a piece of candy floating sweetly from God's vagina into your smiling, imaginative, unperverted but a little, u know, a little diff, little happy-feeling kinda kinky-haired-ish earholes. heh

Watched only about half, it had some good stuff on it as some points, but overally just too "we all play our own things fast and disregarding all structure". Other videos were quite the same.

Imo good music needs its structure, but the way you shape the structure and make different stuff fit it makes it magix, hard to explain, you know something like this quite easily one of the best rock songs ever made:

Yea, its rather long, but well worth it to listen it without skipping parts

Don't disregard math rock. It totally counts.

    And some Autechre.

    More Animal Collective.

Polyrhythm and polymeter are both interesting things. Tool does some interesting stuff.
The only "free jazz" artist I know anything by is John Zorn.

On another note, you should probably not quadruple post. These things are generally frowned upon.

    Edit:

I forgot 50s experimental electronica. Derp.

Actually, now that I think about it, neither of those are from the 50s. Schaeffer's is '48 and I think Subotnick's is '67 or '68.
