    Default So to speak

I think dancing love me. It is always kind to me - more than kind, it lifts my spirits.

And dancing is generous - not only does it give me euphoria, it give me a wonderful metaphor - which I use liberally and promiscuously.

Poetry, for instance, is a kind of dancing with words.

And I like very, very, slow dancing - so slow, I am almost not moving. I like slow dancing because it puts me in a delightful trance.

I also like very fast dancing - it is almost as though I am floating - my feet and my body almost seem to have a life of their own - carrying me along on a cloud.

And in styles of dance, I particularly like natural dance - where I let my body find its own way.

But most of all I like dancing with a partner where we respond to each other - in a way, we dance to each other.

And of course you can dance not only to a partner but to music or even to a tree.

And anyone can dance - you don't even need to stand - you can dance sitting down.

At the moment I am exploring a dance meditation alternating between dance and euphoria and sitting and relaxation.

And here we are dancing, so to speak, in the noosphere.

    Victor.

My wife's a sporting gal, and she might well investigate the class on her own initiative just for fun or with a friend. But I don't think she would appreciate me suggesting it to her.

But I approve the creativity of that kind of dance class. Dance is good for a number of reasons: A good work-out, coordination, body awareness, etc. So any way that they can keep the dance classes fun and interesting is good. I think it's a great idea that they're bringing back some of the old "burlesque" dances -- pole dancing, belly dancing, stripper classes, etc. The "fun factor" alone is a big attraction.

^ they say installing a pole in the bedroom does wonders for the marriage.

victor: great to know your definition of dance encompasses more than mere physical movement.
    You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
They called me the hyacinth girl.
Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.

I'll have to check that video out at work too. Mambo's a blast. Mambo and Salsa are pretty much the same dance; but Salsa is the popular version danced in clubs, while Mambo is the higher-level version danced in ballrooms and competitions.

^ it isn't dirty!! i meant it seriously!!! :steam: they don't call 'em marriage life-savers for nothing, ya know. it takes some romance to keep a marriage alive.

besides, like i wrote on met/sword/my blog (sometimes, i can't differentiate): pole dance isn't easy. Try pulling yourself up one with only your hands, and look sexy while you're doing it. oh, and smile, not grimace.

^ ....so it's true...men lose their brain functions once the half below the belt takes over.

My wife and I are in our 50s. I think clambering up and down a pole would be a prelude for a heart attack rather than romance.

But for you younger gals: By all means, carry on!
