There Will Be Blood - interesting description of an enneagram 8. Not as epic as I thought it would be though.

    District 9.

A gritty sci fi action thriller set amid alien apartheid in Johannesburg, South Africa. Features include: cool alien technology and weapons that can only be operated in fusion with alien DNA; South African blacks rioting in favor of alien apartheid; a protagonist that is absolutely fucking hilarious; a metamorphosis straight out of Lovecraft or Kafka.

    Default "It's Complicated".

I've just come from, "It's Complicated", starring Meryl Streep.

Ah yes, Meryl Streep is a truly superb actress. Meryl Streep knows how to act. She knows to be believable she must act in two channels - what she says and how she says it. And she is seamless.

At first I thought the movie would be just another shallow comedy with great production values. But it saves itself at the end. And everything ties together very nicely. And it does draw the distinction between immaturity and maturity.

The actor Alec Baldwin plays the part of a man who never grows up. And Meryl flirts with this but finally settles for the actor, Steve Martin, who talks like a grown up. And finally Meryl grows up herself.

Meryl finally discovers there is no fool like an old fool. And that she was one herself.

However the illusion of never ending youth is played out very well and reflects today's ideology.

But eventually we all grow old - and some of us grow up.

My only regret is that it took me this long to see it.

    Brothers -- moving.
Revolutionary Road -- terrible. Read here for some reviews that echo my own sentiments.

^ i must say i disagree with you on revolutionary road, as you may interpret it however you want, it paints a beautiful painting of the failed american dream, or personal aspirations.

I just watched what may or may not have been the last episode of The Tonight Show with Conan Obrien. I am extremely surprised at the level of vitriol that NBC is allowing him to present on his show, and the level of creative freedom they are giving him. For example, when he presented the possible titles to the porn movie he would star in, I think that was the furthest I've seen broadcast TV pushed (that I can recall offhand). I mean, some of the titles were not even close to being innuendos and just came right out and said it, and they were not things I would have expected to hear on broadcast networks ever. Very wild, what is happening on late night.

I usually enjoy Jimmy Fallon, but tonight he had a bad monologue; I think he's just cringing in the corner trying to ride out the storm so he can keep slow-jamming the news. He may come out best of all out of the three, since it sounds like he would keep his time slot and would not be villified like Jay has been.

This situation is so crazy, I keep wondering if it's all just some hoax cooked up by NBC to get better ratings for a few weeks...

We bought it, so we'll probably watch it again and without expectation. I tried to appreciate it. I really did.
