Medicine Men Go Wild, a show I discovered on Netflix about 2 hot twin brothers who are both doctors. They travel the world learning about other cultures health and medicinal practices. Pretty cool show :).

Green Lantern. Terrible plot development. Even worse character development. And above all, dreadful video game cinematics that I guess are supposed to pass as movie visual effects. And finally, very underwhelming action sequences and an underwhelming scope, especially considering the director is Martin Campbell (of Goldeneye, The Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit and Casino Royale). Very disappointing.

Well, I guess My moviegoing experience of today wasn't a total loss, as I watched Drive Angry a few hours later, and I totally loved it. It was as trashy as it promised.

just watched Super 8... it was an enjoyable movie to watch :) Somehow like a combination of Stand By Me, King Kong and Transformers or something

I liked it though!

I came back from a movie today that had no special/visual effects whatsoever. A rarity in cinema these days.

I saw Transformers 3, in glorious 2D.

It delivered what it promised, as the previous films did: non-stop gratuitous action. Only this time, there didn't seem to be quite so many fast cuts, making the action more coherent. And as for the plot, it was in there somewhere, and it also made a surprising attempt to "develop" more complex relationships between the human characters. Interesting relationships, you ask? No. But it gets an A for effort. And moreover, who the fuck cares? It's a 2 3/4 hour CGI demo reel. It's as if the f/x studios orgasmed and burst cream all over My eyes. And you know you all love it, too.

Though throughout the film, I mostly chuckled at Leonard Nimoy's lines.

And this film was certainly better than Battle: LA, which I watched the other day. It was probably worse than Skyline, and its storyline would've been better for a video game than a movie.

Cedar Rapids I recently saw on video. Pretty funny overall.

Kinda like "The 40 Year Old Virgin" meets "The Hangover".

John C. Reilly was a pleasure to watch...an aging and stale Sigourney Weaver less so.

'World War I in color'. Uncanny how watching computer-edited footage makes it look so much more alive. Annoying though that the English speakers use fake accents when impersonating non-English people.

Just finished watching Manhattan. It's the first Woody Allen flick I've seen. I'm not sure what to think. The shots are beautiful, and the soundtrack was amazing. I feel like I'm missing a lot. His 17 year old girlfriend kind of unbalanced me. It watched a lot better when I got past the fact that she just seemed to be a creature that mostly only Allen wishes or believes exists, but it was distracting.

Now watching 'Brother From Another Planet', proving that black slavery is intergalactic. On the opening spacecraft crash instead of spacey synth music, they have steel drums. Ha.

Sucker Punch was... not what I expected. I think the best description I can come up with for it would be "neat". Not a good movie.... But neat. Pretty bad movie, actually. But neat.

Green Lantern was terrible.

Sherlock Holmes the Complete Series - The 1954 to 1955 series with Ronald Howard, decent half hour plots and a well acted representation of Dr. Watson not seen in later adaptations.

I saw Harry Potter. In glorious, fantastic 2D. Was it really necessary to divide this movie into two parts? I mean, of what I recall from the last movie, it was mostly an overlong camping trip, a romantic love triangle drama of some sort, and a CG-enhanced Hermione that looked half naked. Some of this stuff could've been cut to make one whole film.

Seriously, two parts? Isn't that why director cuts exist?

You said it, and while I'm at it, I guess I should rank all 7 (or 8 if you insist) Potter films:

  1. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
  3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1 and 2)
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (this is the one that should've been divided into two parts, the whole movie felt like a montage)
  6. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  7. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

The Beauty Academy of Kabul - its a documentary about women training to be hair dressers amidst the loss and dangers of post-Taliban Afghanistan. Really very interesting and the Afghani women are endearing, esp this one totally bad bad lady named Hanifa who wears make-up and men's clothes. She seemed xSTP to me. She was amazing.
