I saw "The Other Boleyn Girl", the BBC version. It was mostly awful. Certainly no match for "Anne of the Thousand Days".

^ If that's directed at me (since it's right beneath me I am not sure) I don't even understand the message.

    Default "The Reader"

"The Reader", is a movie about an SS Concentration Camp guard.

    SPOILERS BELOW

But the movie is very careful to not to tell you that her trial went on for six years, in which it was revealed that she bashed the brains out of children against brick walls in the presence of their mothers.

It was also revealed she regularly and often stomped women to death with her boots.

Also she regularly whipped women to death.

Also we are not told she freely and knowingly chose to be a Concentration Camp guard. And if she had refused at any point she would not have been punished.

She was sentenced to life in prison. She did not commit suicide. And like all SS, she was not repentant.

This movie is a straight out white-wash - it is called historical revisionism.

I watched Australia. It was a long, boring waste of nearly three hours.

I mean, there wasn't even any cannibalism!!! What is up with that?

Though admittedly, this was the first time I've ever seen anything about the history of Australia.

Ugh, fuck that! *crosses Australia off list of movies to watch*

Btw, Victor, I didn't catch what you had written in your post before it got edited but The Reader is based on a work of fiction, no?

Last but not least, everyone see this movie: 'Let The Right One In'. It's Swedish and it is the best movie I've seen for over a year. Awesome in every way.

I caught Religulous and enjoyed it. Of course, I agree with Bill Mahar on the subject of religion, so it was, err ... preaching to the choir.

Yes, Kangirl, the movie, "The Reader", is based on a novel also called, "The Reader".

And the novel is based on a real case tried in a German Court.

And the facts in the real case are different than the facts in the novel.

However the movie is a good movie, and worthwhile seeing.

    Default Dean Spanley

I've just walked out of the movie, "Dean Spanley".

But before I go on I am obliged to warn you not to read any further if you think I might reveal the plot.

But the movie really wasn't about a plot. It's hard to say what it is about. It is more about creating an atmosphere which they do very successfully.

And interestingly the movie is made by the New Zealanders.

It is a strangely satisfying movie but difficult to get your head around - but do you really want to get your head around it? No.

It is an engrossing film, well acted and beautifully presented.

And see, I don't think I have revealed the plot.
