after years of peer pressure, am finally giving in and watching 5 seasons of this shit

I've never heard of this, but why does this look like the first of many future Pornhub Original Soap Opera series'? Even the name is kinda suspect.

it's a spin-off of one of the real housewives series, about a bunch of cokehead wannabe singers and actresses that work at the same restaurant and fuck eachother. so i think they all could have easily ended up in porn instead.

At least I wasn't too far off.

the show atlanta is great in general, but last night's episode was amazing/horrifying. it could definitely be watched as a standalone episode so i highly recommend it.

Been (re)watching Bates Motel with my roommate at night while we pack for the move (she’s never seen it). We’re on the final season.

The original film is one of my all-time favorites, but I was open to a reimagining of Norman’s story, and I quite enjoyed most of this series. Some of the side plot tangents seemed irrelevant, but they achieved their purpose in establishing the supporting cast & their relationships to the Bates family, so I have no complaints there.

My one major complaint:
The entire show was beautifully cast. Glaring exception being Marion Crane. Rihanna was a terrible choice. She has all the emotional range of a dusty old rock, in this role. Every line was delivered with nearly the same inflection as the last, regardless of content. She didn’t seem present. Her enunciation is atrocious. Compared to the skilled actors she worked with, she sounded like she was mumbling all the time. I haven’t heard of her doing much work outside the music industry, so I grant that she’s probably new at this. That being said, novices who clearly need some formal training (in diction, among other things) shouldn’t be given focal roles where emotional stakes are high. It just dilutes every scene they’re in, and becomes distracting.

Perhaps they selected her as a ratings-grab, which seems unnecessary given the quality of the series, but “celebrity” guest stars do attract viewers. It’s possible they were trying to compete with Lady Gaga’s casting in American Horror Story around the time this aired.

Regardless of reason, her performance made me cringe.

Still an enjoyable series, providing you can ignore that poor casting choice, and don’t mind some deviation from the source material, which should be expected since it’s frequently described as a “reimagining.”

I’ve also finished rewatching The Office (US version). I miss it already.

Watched two episodes of the UK version, so far. I like it, but.. there’s no Creed. :sadbanana:

2nd season of Jessica Jones first half was pretty good. But this second half as if the writers just shoved it in to make in a date.

Finally watched Unbreakable, the M. Night Shymalon movie that I'd never heard of until last year. It's ok, but The Sixth Sense is still his best work. Let's all hope that he didn't peak with his debut film.

Ready Player One is a great film, the first decent movie from Spielberg since that horrible Schindler's List. I thought that film destroyed Spielberg's inner child but he's still got it.

The 5th and last season of Six Feet Under. Is Nate/Brenda the worst TV couple ever? Loving the mom/Claire dynamic right now. "Get out of the house and get a job!" :D

Just finished the series finale of Six Feet Under. Many people have said this is one of the greatest series finales ever and I agree.

I've been watching Top of the Lake. I'm halfway through the second season. Good stuff.
I saw the first season recently. I knew I hated Al right off the bat. :D

I'm 7 episodes into the first season of 19-2 (English language version) and mostly loving it so far. Of course the show's big claim to fame is the 13 minute continuous take at the beginning of the school shooting in episode 1 season 2. :worthy:

"The Killing of a Sacred Deer" by Yorgos Lanthimos. Beautiful movie with a lot of references to Greek Mythology, engulfed in psychological and deconstructionist undertones. Now, I am going to see "Dogtooth" by him and quite excited for that as well.

Tintin was not half bad. Lincoln was OK too.
