What would you do if you were the Reds? Personally, I'd try to trade him for some prospects; players have done much worse (wife-beating, etc.) and still performed on the field, but this type of action for someone in his position would seem to indicate something pathological at work, making future performance much riskier. Or given his age and baseball regulations concerning young players, maybe the Reds should wait unitil he's eligible for free agency before trading him?

Don Baylor must be pissed.

Why would other teams give up prospects for a guy like this?

And why would Don Baylor, Arizona's hitting coach, be pissed? Do you mean Dusty Baker?

I keep getting them mixed up.

As for the less embarrassing question, teams that become desparate for decent starting pitching in the middle of a pennant chase have been known to make short-sighted decisions.

Haha. The funny part about this for me is that I have also mixed up Don Baylor and Dusty Baker. LOL. Don't feel bad. I think they "kind of" look alike and they both have initials of DB and both played outfield in the 70's and 80's. Oh, and both have managed the Cubs.
