The books actually had more references of rape, gory bodies, and burned villages as Arya traveled the landscape before being captured, and more of the Tickler (and his pet rat, if I recall) as well. The series actually tamed down Arya's storyline IMO, although it amped up Joffrey's to make up for it.

I can't remember if they ever specifically described the Tickler's methods in the book? I remember Arya and company being inside a barn, and the Tickler's unlucky victimm being taken outside. I think, in the book, the Tickler's interrogations took hours.

You know who hasn't gotten enough love in this thread? Bronn.

Fucking Bronn, man.

Bronn is fantastic.

I like the character but I do not think he is being utilized properly.

That scene where Tyrion uses him to intimidate a kingsguard - I mean, Bronn doesn't look like a pushover or anything, but kingsguards are one of the most elite group of warriors around, so saying shit like "This dude I found at a tavern is totally gonna kick your ass" probably won't be enough to cow one into submission.

They need to flesh out his story a bit, e.g. give him some notoriety across the land, or at least show him fucking up a few guys in plain sight in King's Landing before other warriors start pissing their pants at the mere sight of him.

He did take out the best knight in the Vale, and I remember there being a fair amount of talk in the books that the Kingsguard isn't what it used to be in Barristan Selmy's day (a lot of political appointments, which probably includes Slynt: he inherited Harrenhal by working against Stark and earned his place in the Kingsguard by doing whatever the Lannisters wanted, not through combat skill). Plus, weren't Tyrion's tribespeople nearby to escort the guy away?

Not in the show they weren't.

Concerning political appointments - are you sure you're not confusing them with Golden Cloaks? You mentioned Slynt of Golden Cloaks, but it was Kingsguard Meryn Trant who Tyrion threatened.

I see. We're talking about two different scenes I think. You're right: The guy who was sent to the wall after having dinner with Tyrion was Slynt, and he was commander of the City Watch (which, since it is basically like being a police commissioner, is a very political position). After dinner with Slynt (when he questioned him about killing Robert's bastards), Slynt nearly jumped to action but Bronn made him reconsider. Seems likely Bronn outmatches Slynt.

As for Trant, you're correct he's on the Kingsgaurd, and Tyrion threatened him. But his threat against Trant was not immediate, and I don't think it would be enough for him to hop right up and try and kill the Hand, or even kill Tyrion if he weren't the hand (Tywin may not be especially fond of Tyrion, but he would not let someone walk if they killed a Lannister). My guess is Trant's willingness to stop tormenting Sansa in that scene is derived more from Tyrion's position, and his threat regarding Bronn was just to make a point. Besides, Bronn now commands the City Watch, so it seems like he has a few people to back him up.

I enjoyed last nights episode.

Between the introduction of Ygritte [sic] and the changes in Theon, things are starting to pick up some pace.

Man, that blinking text is going to give me an epileptic seizure, and I'm not even epileptic.

I really liked last night's episode. I like that they're spicing up Danearys' storyline a little bit, and I'm excited to see what they do with this.

And I really like how they did the Hound rescue scene. He's looking like a badass.

My sole motivation now is how hot the assassin guy is.

My god, I know. I would do sexy, sexy, hot, dirty things to Jaqen H'ghar.

Someone pointed out a neat thing about the week before last.... Where'd Jaqen get that pear he was eating in the window? ;)

Lol that's what I keep saying. He's really really fantastic.

Yes... The show sadly lacks much eye candy. :sadbanana:

This is him not in character. PREPARE TO SWOON, LADIES. (And the men who are into that sort of thing. Actually, I'm pretty sure even the straight men are not safe from this one.):
