Osvaldo Golijov. I was listening to the CD titled "Yiddishbbuk" was a staff pick on what.cd (If you don't know, don't ask).

Unfortunately, it is just an audience recording, so the audio quality isn't great and the energy of the Galopp isn't really captured.

A great recording, but the Galopp is left out.

A rehearsal recording, cuts the ending short.

I wish I could share better recordings..

I feel the same way about Brahms' orchestral works in general. He only wrote four symphonies, a few serenades, a few concertos, some chamber works and too many piano and vocal works (comparatively)...

I recently attended this performance: http://www.cpo-live.com/main/event_d...p?event_id=501

My favourite music! John Williams is arguably the single most accomplished composer of the last 40 years. The sheer volume of eminently famous work he has done is astounding. Here are YouTube clips of the songs performed at the concert I attended:

"Adventures on Earth" from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial

    Theme from Jurassic Park

    Theme from Jaws

Suite from Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone:
    "Hedwig's Theme" and "Nimbus 2000"
(I had never seen a celesta before; that's the instrument making the glockenspiel-ish sounds at the beginning. It's actually like a miniature piano that strikes steel plates instead of strings.)

    "Harry's Wondrous World"

"The Raiders March" from Raiders of the Lost Ark

    Suite from Schindler's List:
    "Theme"

    "Krakow—Jewish Town"

    "Remembrances"

and, composed by Carlos Gardel, (and not on the program)
    "Por una cabeza"

    Suite from Star Wars:
    "Main Title"

    "Princess Leia's Theme"

    "The Imperial March"

    "Yoda's Theme"

    "Throne Room & End Titles"

and, tacked on at the end, not on the program,

    Theme from Superman

Some dumb saps walked (damned near RAN) out before they started playing the theme from Superman! Fools! They missed out.

I came to conquer this thread:

even rape and pillage if I felt so inclined:

with my guru level knowledge of in classical music and profoundly discerning taste:

and instead I find it empty and inactive for nearly a year
