Dexter? (Has the dark and edgy thing going on in a big way).

I second those two.

Can I unrecommend "Chuck"? TV's most annoying character.

Person who knows best: "Chuck, you'll be fine as long as you don't do x"
Chuck: *does x almost immediately for no good reason, gets everyone in trouble, helps them a little in getting out of said trouble, apologizes profusely afterwards and is told it's okay -- he did great*

Once or twice is fine, but when it happens once or twice every single episode it starts to grate.

Yeah, I kind of liked the first season, but after that it got horrible. In addition to everything you said, I'd like to add that the plot twists are too overdone, they're quite random and you still can predict them all.

Yeah. Predictability is why I don't watch House, too. I'm convinced they just have a template in the writer's room.

Fringe is a good methadone replacement for Lost.

If you don't mind going back a few years, Angel was quite good, and dark.

I would like to cancel out JJJ's post with my own enthusiastic recommendation for Chuck! It's one of my favorite shows, right behind 30 Rock and Community. It has enough amiable charm for five shows, and enough to gloss over any minor plot issues. It's as realistic as any show about a guy who winds up recruited by the CIA because he has a supercomputer uploaded to his brain who works out of a secret spy lair in the basement of a Best Buy needs to be. :)
