This is probably very true. Deviance from the status quo, then? The established norm as irrefutable canon?

I vote for no more comic book movies for at least 10 years.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Yeah, I think so. I guess the idea that Peter Parker was drawn/conceived in a certain way, so deviation would be screwing with the sacred in Comicbookland. I guess I even understand that, in a way. But I'm not a comic book lover, and to me, Glover would just be a good fit for the character.

Some people are weird about being uber-faithful to the original format of anything.

This is payback for Uncle Ben being played by a white man in the previous films.

You're being sarcastic but, yeah, you're right.
