    Default Video Game Awards 2007

Samuel L. Jackson hosts, but where are the tuxedos and the long, glamorous and impractical dresses? Where is Steven Spielberg? Where is the red carpet and all the expensive formality?

Come on, this is the only way old people will ever take gaming seriously.

Probably because it's a cheap award show for video games on a basic cable channel. Also the game developers aren't obscenely rich egomaniacs like actors and directors are.

Though most of the games nominated consist of multi platform compatible games, at least it isn't just consoles. If Halo 3 wins game of the year, I wouldn't be surprised. People absolutely love console mediocrity.

[tangent] I'm actually looking forward to the Vista LIVE implementation, allowing pc gamers to play with console gamers. I bet the best console fpsgamer would be an absolute n00b compared to an average mouse/keyboard pc user.

PC first-person shooters are generally more strategic. Compare the PC version of Far Cry to the Xbox's Far Cry Instincts.

It's interesting how with the console version F.E.A.R., the slow-motion power-up isn't often used by the players like the PC version. And that was part of what made the game fun to play, because other than that, the game suffered from hopelessly repetitive environments.

Everywhere you go, however, everything will have the bias toward console gaming, because PC gamers tend to have a reputation for being elite snobs...though there is certain truth there, particularly because PC gamers are more likely to have knowledge of computers.
