The Strokes are number one but The Shins and The White Stripes aren't even in the top five? I think Interpol Turn on the Bright Lights is better than number eight....and I'm not just saying that because Paul Banks is one of the hottest men I've ever had the privelege of seeing on stage. I wore that album out and I still love it. At least Yeah Yeah Yeahs are in the top five and PJ Harvey is in the top ten.

Wow. No Marshall Mathers LP? No Stankonia? No Rated R? Was 2000 even included in the list? Also, I'd put Kid A above In Rainbows, Kala (not included???) over Arular, and Oh, Inverted World (not included???) over Wincing the Night Away. Pretty weak list from a good mag.

EDIT: And Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is pretty overrated at this point. Sky Blue Sky was the best Wilco album of the 2000s, and it's a toss-up between Being There and Summerteeth as best overall.

Half of those are already on my 'to buy list'. Interesting picks - I like them but don't agree with the order. I agree with the alternative/indie direction they took. Someone recently complianed to me about the state of modern music. I told them that today's music is in a fantastic state, you just have to know where to find it (a clue: its not playing on mainstream radio)

I wonder if there is a top 50/100/x list that isn't 9/10 indie. Though QOTSA, White Stripes, Radiohead, and Muse deserve to be on there(Muse definitely should be higher, IMO)

I gave up remembering the names of artists when I gave up buying CDs and just downloading music.

Yes. Any top 50/100/x list that is "pop" oriented will be 9/10 "hip-hop" and its current-day variants.

Supposedly, the American Music Awards were on tonight. I didn't bother to watch...

Bring back the 90's!! :D
