Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville has to be the ultimate one for me. Not even necessarily my favorite album but definitely the one which has stood the test of time as far as finding it resonant.

U2 - Achtung Baby
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Nirvana - Unplugged
PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
Radiohead - Ok Computer
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Led Zeppelin - IV

Edit: It's wrong for me to leave out The Downward Spiral.

Sorry, but I couldn't do just eight. These albums all served as gateways or markers for me...they each struck me as sheer genius. (And a lot of other people, apparently.) It's really a pretty traditional list.

this reminds me De-Loused in the Comatorium should be in my 8 but there's no room.

I didn't really care for Amputechture, though.

I feel bad leaving Amputechture out. Also, a lot of early 80's New Wave.

8 is not enough!

Its probably one of my top 3 favorites, just cause it was the first one i listened to, its defiantly not up to the caliber of some of their other stuff, but for me its just got a feeling of nostalgia.
