I loved "A Walk to Remember" as well. It's not a happy ending but it is a feel good movie and to me, a great example of how love can really change someone's life for the better - even if you lose that love.

Oh, and "The Illusionist", a friend recommended it to me and at first I wasn't sure about it. But I loved the mystery in it, how I couldn't exactly predict what was going to happen and I loved how it all played out for the best of the lovers. I love happy endings.

Well, it probably wouldn't have worked for you, but for me it helped greatly that Mandy Moore was positively lovely in the role.

And with this post...YES! My name is most recent on every thread in The Channels!

...if only for a moment...

Most of the James Bond movies were good chick flicks.

Do you call Bond movies because of the chicks in it or because of the "romance" in it between Bond and the chicks?

On that note, I loved Casino Royale - the new one with Daniel Craig. I thought it had a very sad but good romance side story in it. I haven't seen all the Bond movies but I think I like Casino Royale the best, I like how Bond was portrayed - not always so smooth and perfect.

That was one of the best Bond movies, IMO, and I'd call it a chick flick - it had the romance.

When Harry Met Sally is a documentary and the events happened in real time! Greatest chick flick ever! I am a chick that isn't really into chick flicks. I find myself on the man's side too often and am a self hating woman, lol. Worst one ever hmm How about Titanic- just die already this is taking forever and the pairing is all worng wrong wrong- she looks more like a petifile then a love interest in that movie, my opinion. How about pairing her with someone who doesn't look 12? No no no wait- The English Patient is another one that I found myself saying hurry it up and end all of our misery, lol.

Also not that anyone has probably seen these two movies- but these are my other two favorite chick flicks- Mr. Skeffington and first and foremost- RANDOM HARVEST. My favorite movies are the older black and white ones where I feel character development and dialogue is much much better where as I think today's movies might have better plots and cinematography and special effects of course. Personally I prefer better dialogue and character development. Also The Long Long Trailer and Pillow Talk are excellent chick flicks.

James Bond films are romance films at their finest. They portray romance in its ideal form, especially the early Connery films.

I loved Casino Royale, but you gotta admit that Bond movies have become so PC over the years. I liked the old days when women were bimbos.

My wife likes romantic comedies, so I've probably seen all of those for the last decade or so. But they don't stick in my memory. I barely remember the plots of chick flicks for more than a week or so.

How about "Thelma and Louise" for a good chicks-on-the-run flick?

I liked "Pride and Prejudice". And yes, I prefer the one without Colin Firth. So sue me.

I do enjoy rom coms, but I enjoy most movies that don't involve shoot-em-up-explosions or stupid buddy antics as the major plot. I tend to enjoy movies I can relate to, such as Bridget Jones' Diary, 13 Going on 30, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Legally Blonde and I actually really liked The Lake House.

What is the best romance movie/chick flick you watched?

I can narrow it down to 3 options. Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I've watched each of those at least 15 times in the last 2 years, and consequently can no longer meet the eyes of my local video-store clerks.

What is the worse romance movie/chick flick you watched? And why?

By "worst romance movie" I will interpret you as meaning "romance movie you enjoyed the least". Pride and Prejudice. *YAWN*

Or why do you watch chick flicks/romance movies?

I'm a closet romantic. Plus, sometimes a solid bout of depression needs to be rounded out with a sense of loss engendered by the transitory relief of vicarious romantic fulfillment. I guess it's a form of masochism.

How often do you watch them?

Maybe once a month (excluding the three favourite movies mentioned above).

I generally avoid chick flicks (all of that mushy, kissy, happy ending stuff kind of makes me nauseus!)- I didn't mind Love Actually though- I liked the cast and some of the characters were amusing!

"Grosse Pointe Blank" (always lovin' John Cusack)
"Say Anything"
"An Affair to Remember" (the original)
"Sweet November" (very sad)
"Somewhere in Time"
"The Big Easy" (don't know if it's relevant, but anyways)
"City of Angels"
"French Kiss"

And I'm wracking my brain for one that I just can't come up with right now. Back later. *another Sandra Bullock one, what the hell is it...hmm.* Guy wakes up and she pretends she's the fiance? For a movie I like so much, you'd think I'd remember it!!

"Four Weddings And A Funeral" - My favorite film of this type and notable for managing to be unrelentingly charming enough to hide the atrocious acting of Andie MacDowell.

I'm resurrecting this thread just to exclaim my utter disgust with Andie MacDowell in this movie. What the hell is up with her acting? The whole time I was watching this (and I was watching it on the glowing recommendation of a friend) I just wanted to fast-forward through all of the scenes with her and Hugh in them. So boring, no chemistry, and her character comes off as incredibly bland and uninteresting.

The rest of the film, though, was pretty funny. I especially like the part at the beginning where the guy giving the speech (during the first wedding) says, "if I speak with the tongues of men and of angels but have not love, I am become a sounding brass or a clanging symbol", and Gareth exclaims (from the audience) "good point." Lol.
