I can't find a link to it, but I remember back in the 90's when Heretic first came out, there was a level (I think called Cathedral or something like that) where a bell kept tolling and you could hear whispers and stuff in the background, and it was very scary and atmospheric. I think of it each time I hear the cathedral bell near me chiming at night, to this day!

I just beat this game tonight, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the SNES. And I've been trying to beat it for over 10 years. I feel very, VERY accomplished right now. That smiley can't even encompass how I feel about this game, lol. This game has been rated one of the most difficult video games of all time.

yeah it was. I think most people liked CoD4 for the great gameplay but I also personally liked it for the atmosphere. The city after it gets nuked, that was some incredible stuff. I am hard to impress with games because I always think of ways developers could have done something better, but I tend to value them for their nostalgia and this will certainly be one of those games.

My thoughts exactly. I was literally stunned at this opening, and even more stunned at the game - gameplay, atmosphere, and the general 'feel' of being in that realtime fighting. Came to my surprise, too, that it turned out to be that hell of an experience!

... And how could we forget the parts with the nukes? Just BRILLIANT!

(Definitely gonna get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.)

I assumed the ending of MW2 wasn't the ending. The dialogue assured me of this and they never found Makarov.

wouldn't be surprised if Ramirez invaded Russia by himself in MW3, they made him do everything!
