I liked Harry Potter and the Twilight series. Stephanie Meyer may not be the best writer, but she told a great story and I do like to get lost in a romantic story.

I watched Twilight. I was sorely disappointed. I knew it was a chick flick, I thought it would reach to a broader audience like Harry Potter.

I realise I'm not into young adult fantasy novels very much at all, or the usual teen fictions genres, but my opinion is that Twilight is a sad revelation of what goes on in the majority mind of young girls in society today. Then again maybe I'm just bitter because I don't get what's all the rage and feel left out? (Nah, prob not) Though I remember reading the first 3 books of Harry Potter up to when I was 12 or something and then I stopped and moved on to Agatha Christie books, but seriously it seemed like everyone else in the world had read all 7 or however many there are and I was totally missing out.

Harry Potter at least appears much more imaginative. From what I've seen of Twilight I really... don't know what to say. It disturbs me. I don't so much mind it's existence, but it's overwhelming popularity...

And omg the Twilight movie was hilariously awful.

Harry Potter has the advantage of having been around when I was younger, and, well, let's face it, Twilight's pretty bad.

Harry Potter even though it is an avoidance-avoidance kind of situation for me.

Ha ha, nice thread. You are right, Harry Potter is much better than Twilight. Well, I can't tell exactly, because I only read some pages of Twilight at the bookshop and it didn't convince me to buy the book. At least Harry Potter is written better, even though the last two novels of the series didn't rise up to my expectations.

I like Harry Potter and Twilight both. Not the best books ever written, obviously, but they were entertaining. I love Stephen King too, but that's kind of shitty to publicly say that another writer sucks. I'm more of the opinion that it's a better use of your time to talk about the things you think are awesome instead. Whatever.

It's weird though. I liked reading Twilight, but I HATE Edward Cullen, and I thought Bella was boring. Interesting story, stupid characters, I guess. Except Jacob Black. I have a special place in my heart for him. (Not that I was Team Jacob or anything. Bella's gonna go for the vampire, duh. I just thought Jacob was funny.) I can't really think of anything major that bugged me about Harry Potter.

Yeah, book/movie/music snobbery all really get to me. I guess I just don't take things too seriously.

You can still demand quality and standards without being a snob.

    I'm hardly a snob.

I'll apologize to all Twilight fans in advance, but I read an excerpt and it was so bad that it felt like someone had bludgeoned my brain and raped my soul. I would rather read racy, teenage fanfiction than subject myself to that. But to each their own, of course.
