There are many different types of music that all fall under the Rock umbrella, for example; Metal, Goth, Punk, Emo ect... Are all considered Rock.

Then you have Metal, there's loads of different types of Metal, which is still Rock but, is 'a Metal; Death Metal, Viking Metal, Heavy Metal and so on.
