Totally stereotyped, but I imagine INFJs as Enya listeners. :\

Most of the INFJs IRL I know have terrible taste in music, so I was surprised when I went on here and found out that some do in fact have decent taste (mainly Sanveane).

Maybe it isn't type related after all. ;)

lol The only INFJ I know IRL, also has atrocious taste in music.

What a silly generalization. I probably have the most narrow taste out of any music listener I know (besides maybe my brother). It's much more a function of musical perception/nurture than type.

My brother and I are the best musicians we know -- probably 3 SDs above the mean...

Top 10 bands atm:
opeth
tool
porcupine tree
the mars volta
nine inch nails (pre 2005)
radiohead
system of a down
people in planes
oceansize
silverchair

It wasn't a generalization. It's based on the few INFJs I happen to know.

As for the bands you listed, they seem to represent a somewhat broad array from "popular rock".

haha....the most popular bands I listen to would be Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy (minus their new cd...ugh), Pig Destroyer, Carcass, and Nevermore (all five of which are really not that popular at all lol, and are certainly FAR from being mainstream), and they are waaaaaay more popular than everything else I like. The music I come in contact with outside of my home annoys the crap out of me, and I am rather picky with the ones I look into myself.

INFJ music tastes

Mostly classical, since that's what I grew up with:

Vivaldi
Mozart
Tchaikovsky
Beethoven
Chopin

But some country as well:

Hal Ketchum
Delbert McClinton

And...

Enya
Staind
The Darkness (damn Jack Flak for turning me on to "Love is Only a Feeling"):D
Van Halen's "Right Now"
James Taylor's "Fire and Rain"

It's so hard to narrow it down

True for me. I guess I'd have what most people would call "atrocious" taste in music. I also forgot to mention that my tastes broaden as I discover new music.
I actually hated music before the age of 10.Now I am sad at the thought of doing my laundry without earphones on.(I'm a spoiled brat )

Neko Case
Tom Waits
P.J. Harvey
Amon Tobin
Moloko

Favorite Neko Case song: Deep Red Bells. I love her lyrics. It's about a serial killer who was stalking her neighborhood as a kid.

This video was only chosen for the song, just so you good people could hear it. I haven't watched the entire video.

These are some of the bands me and INFJ friends seem to have in common:

The Killers (Specifically Sam's Town)
Interpol ("Stella was a diver and she was always down")
Aerosmith (I love "what it takes")
Muse
Radiohead

And also, Pretty Odd by Panic at the Disco - "Northern Downpour" - but Pretty Odd was mainly just like the Beatles so maybe it's just the Beatles we're into

I consider myself to have a kickass taste in music, thank you very much. Others tend to think so as well. :)

I can second that  Others may think about my taste in music whatever they feel like. I'm still going to listen to what I like. And I like a lot of different things. There's not enough time or space to list them all and I'd hate to leave anybody out :)
