Heh, I wrote this a looong time ago..

I was on my way yesterday.
    See you later, manipulator..
But moving on just takes too long,
    so again I'm back
    for that heart attack.

I think I was trying to write lyrics.
    ...Then I ducked my head and the lights went out, and two guns blazed in the dark;
And a woman screamed, and the lights went up, and two men lay stiff and stark...

Am I playing for the past,
    or for the future?
    Diplomacy creates
    some great illusion.

And within it I am safe,
I am free, I feel proud
    that I might actually be
    a good person.

It is not the worst lie
    I could create;
    confusing mediocrity
    with being something great.

    A boosting of the ego;
    calculated or innate.
    I still believe
    my mind has seen
    a better state.

    I'll never dream again
    of days without love,
of times when we came here
    driven only by lust.

    I'll never chase a gaze
    in hope that we'll make
    love without finding
    a way to connect.

    I'd forgotten conversations,
    those quiet nights alone,
when we looked to the heavens,
    and knew there was more.

    When we didn't just become
    cold, and caught up
    in pointlessly chasing
    the views of the world.

    We hold our hopes
    for but one dream:
    that man may be eternal.

    That we'll meet again,
    in some strange place,
    beyond the realms we know.

    And troubles passed
    between us in
    these days of endless toil

    will fade to leave
    us free again
    to never be alone.

    Take a knife,
    and slice my throat,
    before I choke
    on hypocrisy.

    Yeah, do it quick,
    and do me in,
    before I suff-
    ocate on greed.

    Hold my hand
    while I try to stand
    under the weight
    of politics.

    Give me cause
    to die before
    I fight another
    war for peace.

    Walking through the cemetery...
    what divides bad from good?
    What justifies
    this loss of life,
    when no revenge is sweet?

    I watch her walk.
    I watch her cry,
    search for meaning
    in it all.

    And I judge her as
    I close my eyes,
    and keep to my ideals.

    I am resurrecting this thread!

    The day when she replied,
she'd almost faded from my mind.
I had put aside my longings
    and got on with life.

    Her room in my heart
had shrunk to a small compartment,
barely holding enough space to spark a fire.

I sat quietly in the lounge
    admiring my surroundings,
    pondering her words
and the futures they might hold.

    My heart no longer frail,
no longer open to the pain,
    trapped in a compartment
    full of hope.

I like this as one of the best in the thread. Maybe because its 'impersonalness' How you conclude the sentence "a yin yang hypothesis for the myriad ways of life" to the former three is a style I like.

But, I haven't read through all, mostly scanned it. How to get through the mass of all poems? I also have several poet's collections at home, reading selectively through them.

Let's see what I can post...
Haven't had my eyes on this one for a while:

    Elemental Phenomenon

    the yellow evening sky
    fulfills all wishes
    and creates none
    what do I write
    its nearly gone!

now its only a little red
    the suns fiery glow
    behind his cooler creations
    fading now into the west

    now its a vague pink
    dissolving among the clouds
    the cooler phenomena stand out
    it sinks and sinks
    folding beyond the horizon

any moment now it can be gone
the cooler parts have to keep warm
    until to the adjacent horizon
the sun orients himself again at dawn

This isn't one of my poems, my poems are posted on my blog, but this one is one of my favorites. It's written by Thom Yorke and was included on the album OK Computer by Radiohead.

    Fitter, happier, more productive,
    comfortable,
    not drinking too much,
    regular exercise at the gym
    (3 days a week),
getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries,
    at ease,
    eating well
(no more microwave dinners and saturated fats),
    a patient better driver,
    a safer car
    (baby smiling in back seat),
    sleeping well
    (no bad dreams),
    no paranoia,
    careful to all animals
(never washing spiders down the plughole),
keep in contact with old friends
(enjoy a drink now and then),
will frequently check credit at (moral) bank (hole in the wall),
    favors for favors,
    fond but not in love,
    charity standing orders,
    on Sundays ring road supermarket
(no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants),
    car wash
    (also on Sundays),
no longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows
nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate,
nothing so childish - at a better pace,
    slower and more calculated,
    no chance of escape,
    now self-employed,
    concerned (but powerless),
an empowered and informed member of society
    (pragmatism not idealism),
    will not cry in public,
    less chance of illness,
tires that grip in the wet
(shot of baby strapped in back seat),
    a good memory,
still cries at a good film,
    still kisses with saliva,
no longer empty and frantic like a cat tied to a stick,
that's driven into frozen winter shit
(the ability to laugh at weakness),
    calm,
    fitter,
    healthier and more productive
a pig in a cage on antibiotics.

These are great, I love reading poetry. I must also say Thom Yorke is amazing. Here's something short I wrote a while ago.

    The Ocean rumbles
cracking the rocks together on shore
    confusing the sand.
    Lightening splits the water -
The wondering sea, chaotic in beauty, faithless, harassed
Or the loving sea, the one you float on, the one that takes you home.
    Poorly veiled and mostly happy
    The waves crash with questions
    Why do you love?
The mist sweeps the questions back to sea unanswered.

^ You write fantastic poetry. I like how you write about the ocean, which I do quite a bit with my poetry as well. I like your poetry a whole lot because, unlike mine, yours has some cohesiveness, while mind are just phrases plucked out of thin air and thrown together that flow as poetry. I guess it's just different style
