I don't understand what the challenge is yet or how it works.
Of course being a Titan of the intellect, I am interested to see what the sociological purpose is.
But as Marx said, "The importnant thing is not to understand the challenge but to change it".
And most of you are sons and daughters of the Revolution while I am still a Subject of Her Majesty. So perhaps I should take my cue from you in conducting the Challenge Revolution.

In terms of revolution, we haven't yet even assembled the practical expression of the Preamble; that said, our efforts would suffer if your pen wasn't involved.

If not, how does one get added to a team?
Team members will go to their User CP and select their team under Group Memberships on the left hand side (grouped under Miscellaneous).
I don't see "group memberships"

I was born in California, right outside San Francisco, lived in Berkeley for a while... then moved on. But I've got very close friends (so close they're basically family) in Berkeley and am almost as familiar with it as I am with NYC. Visited there at least once every two years since I left. Even worked in Laurence Berkeley Federal Labs for a while...
Tell this to M. Scott: 2 + 2 = 2 - (-2) = -(-2 - 2) = 4
But I'm glad you got it.
As for Ma Kaali (Mother Kaali)... that's cool... but remember... she's not all death and gloom... she's ultimately the Mother... like all Mothers, she can be the apogee of care and love (Bhadra Kaali/Gentle Kaali) or a scary force to be reckoned with, even unreasonable (Smashaan Kaali/Crematorial Kaali). But she is pretty freaky... I love her.

Second -- Um, I know 2 negatives make a positive thank you. Or something like that. I meant 'I got it' re: by 'ascending to descend' you meant go up to the gallows to get buried in the ground.

i'm not big on trash-talking either. okay, that's a lie, i am, but on this board, i think it's a good way to cause some to go out of their way at voting time to choose someone else's entry just to put an aggressive (in their opinion) trash-talker in their place.

I would like to join another team outside of Blue having quit the team due to disagreements with some of its members. Pending administrator review of the disgraceful goings-on at Team Blue Challenge II, I think it will be evident that I was a very active and participatory member and was very moderate and respectful in the exchange that ensued following disagreement.
I would be more than happy to join the team with the lowest point total thus far.

I noticed that SDM is now in Black so I guess all is well?
For new members, just throwing it out there but I remember both Ygolo and Beat expressing interest but the rosters had closed.
Also a suggestion to Haight, NPG, any other admin running the gauntlet --
Could we create a separate ''Challenge Submission and Voting" thread per challenge?
It makes it MUCH easier to find the entries, vote, and understand what's going on to the newbie who just joined MBTIc (or veterans who aren't checking the Gauntlet thread regulalry) if there's a dedicated space for entries. Basically a thread where the first post is a repost of the rules of the challenge and voting criteria for general membership. The next 4 posts will be reserved for each team entry ONLY. And *then* the smack talking can happen.
I think that will encourage and increase general membership participation as well.
I found shuffling the entries in a very active multi-page thread for Challenge 1 made it hard to find.

Even though I'm not directly participating with the Gauntlet, it's not any fun to watch a good team implode. All the teams have great ideas batted back and forth and to see things spill out like this detracts from the spirit of the game.
This is just for fun. Please, don't take more seriously than it needs to be taken. All the teams have an excellent dynamic. When things get heated within the teams maybe the best thing to do is take a posting break for a few hours.

You have no say in this. You do not own the Gauntlet. Excellent idea, and all yours, in that sense, but this is a community, not an autocracy. Besides, the "discarded" status is bogus.
What was I trying now?
Don't get me wrong I like a double agent as much as the next guy, but I said I didn't want him because there probably was a very good reason for him being taken off of the team, and it wasn't because he wasn't participating.
Great... read the thread in which the dispute occurred first and then talk about my being "taken off" the team. I initiated the self-removal. As it is, any talk of my possibly joining another team, if they'll have me, should take place only after this challenge is over and moderators have sorted through the conflicting reports coming from different members.

Ah, OK. I hadn't checked the voting at work today. Good weighting on the scores, though, I think. I assume that, in the event of a tie, the team that won more contests takes first? Or do we have a tiebreaker?
Read the rules, please.

One of the grown-ups should update the overall scores.
EDIT: ...please.
Clearly you didn't check again before adding "please." ;)

Well, I didn't, but I still would have added "please" even if I had. I didn't want to be rude, you see.
EDIT: And thank you. :D

I don't think that's exactly fair. I'm guessing the playing field ain't exactly level, if you know what I mean.

So far it's a tie between Jae Rae and Jennifer. This will be the most exciting challenge yet!

See, you don't know where this challenge is going, it's much better than that make-a-new religion crap.

I've got a wet bar with 14 different kinds of microbrews on tap. Come on over and watch the football game with me, and I'll pay for the callgirls (provided by the local sorority). Whaddya say?

Probably not. That's probably why she was trying to get you to do it - so she could own you.

These "callgirls" as you call them, they will be there to discuss the evolution of the forward pass? And possibly to synchronize cheerlead with the ones on the TV?

Firelie moves into second place, just for saying BOOBIES.

When considering the "Get Jeffster To Go Out With You" challenge, I recognized that the Gauntlet has brought out my George Costanza Syndrome (GCS) - "If every instinct I have is wrong...then the opposite would have to be right!"

That will go well with the dirt-covered AC filter, clay pot full of dirt, stick, and broken light bulb that currently sit on my porch.
