OK. Listo.

Bloopers? I come from Minnesota where we have snow and ice cream.
The window came and slammed my door shut. And one that left the two young girls I was talking to gazing at me in open-mouthed wonder.

I was trying to explain that I wanted to know which bus to take to El Centro which would first take me through the residential district and I clumsily told them that I wanted to go downtown but first I wanted to go round and round with my male cousin.

I was quite gratified, though, to pass a drowsy dog on the beach and whisper, "Eh, perro" and see by his swift appraisal of this gringa that he spoke Spanish. Que impresionante!

The last time I went I practiced all week with our alert and gracious waitperson at the hotel and on the last day as I struggled to thank him he finally said in exasperated English, "Just tell me in English!"

Hee. Que lastima, mi paisano verdad!

Diversion es aqui. Y me falta una tilde, tambien. Pero es alguna parte. Si, creo que. Estoy perezoso.

Una vez I knew it all but I have forgotten.

I don't have anyone to practice with. Sometimes I go to Walmart and look for little Hispanic kids to "grandma" over in Spanish! (That's a bit of a United States joke.) They point and say, surprised -like "Mom, this lady is talking Spanish to me!" I probably speak it at their level.

A woman moved in across the street and was obviously Hispanic. So I got excited and invited her over for iced tea. When I began to speak to her in Spanish she shrugged and said she didn't know any. She came from an immigrant family and they had always insisted she speak English at home.

Kind of sad. I've read that bilingual children actually do better in school because more of their brain is functioning. I don't know if that is true. Seems it would be confusing, but apparently not.

So sorry I am not able to keep up with you but will enjoy reading this thread. You're doing a good job.

(I like that part about ani! )What is the Spanish word for - er - "rosebud?"

LOS HISPANOHABLANTES DE MINNESOTA! ESTAN DE TODOS LADOS! jaja

Bueno, yo voy a continuar a usarlo.

Hmmmm, quiero continuar estudiar espanol...necesito continuar estudiar espanol. Tambien, quiero aprender portugues...me suena tan bonito.
