Default floating in life here we are

    I have been:
a cloud (dragon shaped with trees growing on my back but then you blinked and I dissipated)
    a planet (swiftly tilting)
a flower (and then the sun and then the rain and then the hands one by one to see if their fate of love is decided; ah no.)
a drop of star (just dust which was once light but gone)

    and soon to be:
a star again (because dreams leap alive we're alive one times one)
or a mountain (just to gaze upwards at you who became a star)
or the river (that flows down and away and around the mountain; reflections of so much passing through me)

    and ending at:
a destination posted but not followed
because who knows what lays behind the drop of water backtracking to the heavens and beyond.

As a little kid I did the lawn-mowing, driveway/sidewalk shoveling sort of things and also worked for my dad cleaning offices in a building he ran.
As far as the IRS is concerned:
    Pizza place
U.S. Navy (2 yrs in Deck Division & was a Damage Controlman 3rd class when I got out)
    Hotel Maintenance
    Landscape Mason
    Building maintenance/renovations
Accounting assistant (for about 2 weeks)
    Retail manager
    Restaurant manager/cook/everything else
Back to building maintenance (another hotel)
    Construction (renovating the above hotel)
Will be back to building maintenance when the reno is completed.
Have also had various retail/manufacturing jobs which were mostly 2nd jobs/filler for in between some of the jobs listed above.

    Unpaid:

    Babysitter (fun)
    Cashier (not fun)
Grocery store specialist - coffee/florist (ok)
    Baker (not fun)
    Cake decorator (fun)
    Website designer (ok)
    Equine therapy assistant (fun)
    Art therapy assistant (not fun)
    Marine biology researcher (ok)
Middle school guidance counseling intern (ok)
    Low-level manager (ok)

I liked the jobs where I got to help people directly... and disliked the jobs where there was a lot of BS from management. I really thought I would love marine bio but turns out I'm not into cutthroat academic research, that totally turned me off. Plus it was a lot of solitary, loooonngggg physical and tiny-scale work. Art therapy ended up sucking because most of the patients were very debilitated, and many of them had zero interest in doing the activities I was told to do with them - I remember one particular day where I had a bunch of markers and I was supposed to have them draw. One man had little hand control so he just reluctantly put dots on a sheet of paper because he was supposed to. I left that day and never came back. Being a professional artist is fun but not as satisfying as I'd hoped, and I get really stressed out by trying to make the work perfect. I think my favorite job so far has been the equine therapy. It was fun being around kids all day, I really enjoyed helping them directly, it was a lot of physical freedom, I had great camaraderie with the rest of the staff, and I loved occasionally getting to ride at the end of the day!

    Thank you

How did you like being a resident assistant? I thought that looked pretty fun when I was in school, would have considered it if I hadn't already been super busy.
