Hey, you guys. :D

So, you want to be an entrepreneur?

Well, I came across a couple of short articles about personality type and entrepreneurship which some of you may find interesting.

The first one focuses on the different kinds of entrepreneurs, and encourages you to figure out which one you are, in order to maximize your potential and increase your chances at success.

The second one does pretty much the same, but has an extra bonus (for me, anyway), in that it is based on the 9 points of the Enneagram.

Enjoy! :cheese:

What's Your Entrepreneurial Personality Type? - IndiaOn.com

The 9 Personality Types of Entrepreneurs

P.S.---Just for shits and giggles, I'm considering making a quiz or two based on these articles.

yes i do. :D

i guess i'm this...maybe??

7. If You’re a Diplomat: You are restless and enjoy working under a certain amount of pressure. You get things done quickly and work well with deadlines. You adjust easily to change and deal well with new situations. You have a high sense of urgency and like variety, and because of your compliance and your need to do things right, you work at your full capacity. You multitask and keep a variety of jobs going at once. Active and energetic, you vigorously attack the parts of your business that you enjoy. You can experience difficulty in delegating details, but do a great job when you can do the work yourself.

Diplomats are considered by many to be the best of the Specialist entrepreneurs, as they have both sociability and drive in their personalities. These are two important elements to success. Like most Specialists, you are not the greatest rainmaker, but once you have a client or prospect, you do a great job of keeping them.

The Diplomat’s Business Strengths: You excel in retail or other people-oriented environments. Both outgoing and empathetic, you tend to be well-liked, but you sometimes have a hard time asserting yourself and holding others accountable. Therefore, to successfully lead a company, you typically need to hire stronger, more results-oriented personalities to be sure deadlines are met, commitments are kept and staff members follow through on duties.

and this...helll yeaaah!

7. The Fireball: A business owned and operated by a Fireball is full of life, energy and optimism. Your company is life-energizing and makes customers feel the company has a get it done attitude in a fun playful manner.

Personality Alert: You may over commit your teams and act to impulsively. Balance your impulsiveness with business planning.

Entrepreneurial example: Malcolm Forbes, Publisher, Forbes Magazine.

Plenty of time to become Entrepreneur, here - personally, I was thinking about starting any time between 37 and 40 years old, which should be a while away...

Trailblazer sounds the most like me.

By the way, you guys should check out the wealth-related videos on YouTube, like videos of mansions, yachts, sports cars, etc. I like that stuff. There's a user called WealthTV who has a lot of those videos.

Cool, Erin. :D

I relate to this one:

2. If You’re a Go-Getter: You have a higher-than-average level of both dominance and sociability and are very driven and independent. You are competitive, but your drive to succeed is sometimes tempered by your interest in and concern for others. In our research, Go-Getters represent the largest percentage of the founders. Your natural style lends itself to managing and leading both processes and people.

You show a great deal of initiative, coupled with a compelling sense of urgency to get things done. Go-Getters are typically good leaders and good managers, excelling at motivating themselves and those around them.

The Go-Getter’s Business Strengths: You can do well in retail, but may prefer being the outside rainmaker. You work well in ambitious and unfamiliar environments. This means you can invest in, buy or start a business that’s totally new to you and still make a success of it. You don’t need to be an expert in the field to start the business—you are a good collaborator and can learn as you go.

And this one:
5. The Visionary: A business built by a Visionary will often be based on the future vision and thoughts of the founder. You will have a high degree of curiosity to understand the world around you and will set-up plans to avoid the landmines.

Personality Alert: Visionaries can be too focused on the dream with little focus on reality. Action must proceed vision.

Entrepreneurial example: Bill Gates, Founder of MicroSoft Inc.

Hey Thanks Wonka! I have some entrepeneurial friends (and I'm also scheming to work for myself). I think the 'Go Getter' sounds very ENXP but the 'Motivator' (4) is totally ENFP. In other words, I think those two fit me best. I always knew I would be good at *starting* a business but I think I'd want to sell it eventually and move on to something else? Unless the business itself involved constant progress and change like in real estate.

No, I think you're right that its supposed to correspond with your actual Enneagram type.

I felt like I related to number 5 more, but in the end I probably would be more of a number 7.

It's the same thing with MBTI and Enneagram for me.

I don't see myself as really outgoing, or as some kind of hedonistic adventurer type, but in the end I really am an ENFP, Ennegram 7w8.

I'm just moderately expressed, I guess---so words like "Fireball" throw me off sometimes. ;)

Whether or not I want to be an entrepreneur is irrelevant at this point. I am committed to this path. Not that I'm complaining. I also happen to enjoy it.

I relate to:
3. If You’re a Manager: You are dominant and independent. In your case, these two characteristics feed each other, so you can appear to be even more dominant or independent than you actually are. You are also very goal-oriented and can be quite analytical, focusing more on processes and outcomes than on people. You have a tendency to look at people as vehicles for helping you accomplish your goals. Consequently, you sometimes disregard or overlook the people part of the equation or unwittingly offend people with your straightforward style of communication.

Unlike the two previous entrepreneurial types, Managers have a higher-than-average level of relaxation and know that some projects simply take more time to complete and some goals take longer to achieve than others. You’re loyal, sometimes to a fault, as you consider your employees to be an extension of your family. You can deal well with customers, especially repeat customers, so you’ll probably be great at growing a business.

The Manager’s Business Strengths: You like doing things on your own, are a great behind-the-scenes leader and love working with systems, concepts, ideas and technologies. You excel at competitive selling because you enjoy overcoming rejection and achieving goals despite obstacles. Managers enjoy working by themselves, and managing others can be a challenge, so you need to hire employees who are better than you at listening and working well with others.

in the first set.

I relate to

6. The Analyst: If you run a business as an Analyst, your company is focus on fixing problems in a systematic way. Often the basis for science, engineering or computer firms, Analyst companies excel at problem solving.

Personality Alert: Be aware of analysis paralysis. Work on trusting others.

Entrepreneurial example: Intel Founder, Gordon Moore.

and

Entrepreneurial example: Bill Gates, Founder of MicroSoft Inc.

in the second set.

Also, Gordon Moore is a hero of mine.

What have you done so far?

I'm working on software. I'm fairly close to having a marketable product. I am committed because I've accumulated a lot of debt to finance this venture. I'm relying on revenue to pay it off.

Most of that debt has something to do with this venture in some way or another, and most of it on credit cards. This is why I believe in debt leveraged growth. Now my focus is cash flow. Money is always a great motivator, in my case it anchors me to the present.

Hey. Congratulations.

I deeply respect the entrepreneurial spirit. :)

Lol.. Donald Trump is a Hero, not a Superstar. ;)
Enneagram copycats just can't get things right...

Out of all of the ones on the second website, I'd say I relate to the Analyst or Fireball or Visionary the most.

As for the first web page, I'd say Motivator
