*shakes head* Telling it like it is doesn't preclude civility. My mom always said that you can't always be nice and truthful at the same time. But something that I've learned over the years is that being deliberately insulting says more about you than the person that you are addressing. It also gives you a good chance of losing your audience and your message not being heard at all.
It's hard to make history when your message is lost straight to the twit filter.
